AudioBench

AudioBench

AudioBench is a modular audio laboratory that makes digital signal processing intuitive, visual, and hands-on. Build custom signal paths using real-time DSP modules for filtering, modulation, dynamics, routing, and synthesis. See every stage of your audio with live meters and analyzers, experiment with ideas instantly, and understand how sound behaves by shaping it directly. Perfect for students learning DSP, creators exploring new effects, and developers prototyping algorithms, AudioBench brings audio concepts to life in a way that’s fast, flexible, and deeply interactive.

AudioBench is a modular audio laboratory that makes it easy to design, explore, and understand digital signal processing. Build custom signal paths by connecting modules for filtering, modulation, delay, dynamics, routing, and synthesis—all in an intuitive drag-and-drop editor that updates in real time. Whether you’re experimenting with DSP concepts, shaping new effects, or teaching others how audio works, AudioBench turns complex signal flow into a visual, hands-on experience. Create processing chains from simple to sophisticated: blend filters to sculpt tone, design IIR or FIR responses, build stereo imaging paths, try out sidechains, or assemble multi-stage effects rigs with meters and analyzers at every step. With live scopes, spectrograms, ballistics meters, and waveform views, you can inspect any point in your chain and instantly see how your signal is changing. No guesswork—just clear, interactive feedback that makes DSP easier to learn and faster to prototype. For deeper experimentation, adjust parameters on the fly and hear the results immediately. Fine-tune smoothing, modulation rates, filter coefficients, envelope shapes, distortion curves, and more. AudioBench encourages you to try ideas quickly, visualize the outcome, and iterate without friction. It’s an ideal environment for students, educators, audio developers, musicians, and hobbyists who want to combine exploration with understanding. Templates provide guided starting points for essential concepts like panning, filtering, compression, delay, mid-side processing, stereo imaging, and distortion design. Each template includes live controls and visualizers so you can learn by interacting with working examples. Build from these foundations or branch out to create entirely new processing tools of your own. Every part of AudioBench is designed to make sound tangible. You can route signals freely, inspect values in real time, break down complex effects into clear stages, and build a mental model of how digital audio behaves. From quick experiments to in-depth DSP prototyping, AudioBench gives you a flexible, expressive workspace for bringing audio ideas to life.

What’s new

  • New: Signal Probes
  • Double-tap any port to watch the signal without rewiring. Audio probes show the waveform with peak and current dB. Control probes show minimum, maximum, and current. Bundle probes list every value. Readouts now scale themselves, so 4321 reads as 4.32k.
  • New: Selection Focus
  • Selecting a module dims everything not connected to it, keeping a busy Bench readable. Adjust it in Settings.
  • Redrawn connections
  • Cable, PCB, and ribbon connections now account for direction, bowing outward instead of cutting back through modules.
  • Player
  • Adds a jump trigger, jump position input, and position output, with a crossfade on jump.
  • Also
  • Latch triggers on a transition from zero to non-zero.
  • Errors surface in a clear notification.
  • Search closes on Escape, an outside tap, or after adding a module.
  • Fixed module cards leaving a phantom hover region.
  • An optional local assistant service lets AI tools edit a Bench. Off by default.
